OTHELLO - Caleb Garza ran for 192 yards on 23 carries and David Garza three for 228 yards and four touchdowns to lead Othello to a 41-7 win over Ellensburg Thursday.
The victory locked up the CWAC's No. 2 seed for the Huskies, and a trip to the state 2A playoffs.
Othello (8-2 overall, 8-1 league) will play Archbishop Murphy in a first round match up Friday at 7 p.m. at Tumwater Stadium.
The Huskies jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter of play on a 23-yard pass from David Garza to Justin Lind, a 9-yard pass to Trevor Walker and a 2-point conversion run by Joey Gomez.
Othello's offensive kicked into high gear in the second quarter as the Huskies got two more score, a 36-yard run by Caleb Garza and a third TD pass from David Garza to Walker, his second of the game, to increase the lead to 29-0.
The stout Othello defense dominated Ellensburg in both quarters and didn't allow a Bulldog in the end zone in the first half of play.
The Huskies put the first points on the board in the third quarter on Lind's second touchdown reception of the game, on a 5-yard pass from David Garza to go up 35-0.
Ellensburg managed its lone score of the game in the later part of the third on 21-yard pass from Matt Bennett to Kody Graham to stave off the shutout.
Othello added to its lead in the fourth quarter on a 31-yard run by Caleb Garza, his second of the game, to close out the scoring 41-7.
The Huskies defense came up big for Othello, holding Ellensburg's quarterback Matt Bennett to 57 yards pass and 37 yards rushing on 10 carries.
Ellensburg (7-3, 7-2), will host Cheney (7-2) in a crossover game Tuesday. The winner will earn the District 5/6/7 No. 5 seed and play at Deer Park Friday.
