Most respondants to Whitefish Community

Library’s summer survey said they want earlier hours — the library

has delivered.

Shortly after the library seperated

fromt the Flathead County Library System a survey was circulated

that included questions about library use, operating hours,

programs and other services.

The results of the survey indicated

that most respondents wanted the library hours changed to

accommodate an earlier opening, with a children’s story hour in the

morning. Beginning Dec. 1, the library will be open 10 a.m. - 7

p.m. on Monday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, noon - 6

p.m. on Friday and noon - 4 p.m. on Saturday. Children’s story hour

will now be 11a.m. on Thursday.

“It was important to hear from the

public about what they wanted in their community library,” said

John Otis, a volunteer who formulated the survey and tallied the

results. “The survey accomplished that task, resulting in excellent

input for the library director and the Boart of Trustees. It was a

privilege to work on this project and to assist in ensuring the

quality of services in our community library.”

A drawing was held at the Oct. 12 WCL

Board Meeting to award prizes to three randomly selected survey

respondents. Leslie Kermith won dinner for two at McGarry’s

Roadhouse, Emily Landis won a gift certificate to Book Works and

KCathy Bourchers won a gift certificate to Sweet Peaks Ice

Cream.

“Congratulations to our three winners,”

said Michael Collins, Chair of the WCL Board of Trustees. “We

wanted to show our appreciation for all of those people who took

time to give us this valuable feedback. The Board hopes to use the

information gathered through the survey to sustain the library as a

center of community activity.”

“We will continue reviewing the results

of the survey and responding to your suggestions as time goes on,”

library director Joey Kositzky added.
