It isn't often that Moses Lake gets to see the kind of athletic excellence that this year's Lady Chiefs soccer team showed consistently throughout their season. As a fan of soccer in general, and the Chiefs in particular, I totally enjoyed watching these girls play beautiful game after beautiful game this year. From the rock solid defense they played, to the offensive artistry of the Lady Chiefs, to the solid midfield play, they were a joy to watch all season long.

This year's team was phenomenal. A Moses Lake girls soccer team had never beaten a Richland soccer team - these girls did it twice, including once in Richland. They won the first district championship for Moses Lake. They had two of the Big Nine's top scorers, and a defense which had more shutouts than any other team in the conference.

Saturday their season came to an end at Lion's Field when they lost 1-0 to an incredibly talented Central Valley team. The Chiefs went down swinging before what was probably a record crowd at a soccer game in Moses Lake - which highlights another achievement of this team - making soccer relevant in Moses Lake. Although the team will miss this year's seniors, there remains a great deal of talent that should keep this team at the top of the rankings in the coming years. Keep supporting them Moses Lake!

Thank you to the players and coaches of the Lady Chiefs soccer team for all the hard work and effort you put into this season. I enjoyed every minute of your season and the phenomenal games you played. Well done girls. Hold your heads high and be proud of what you accomplished, because we are proud of all of you
