Latest waterfowl news to reach this desk indicates waterfowl hunters are still waiting for the northern birds to reach the Columbia Basin. This means the ducks are on the way, but the bulk have not arrived.

There are a lot of geese in the area, but this doesn't mean the hunting is red hot.

Guide Ben Holten of Northern Flight Waterfowl says the goose hunting overall isn't great, but is all right.

"The goose hunting has been feast or famine," he said. "For the most part we have been shooting limits."

A lot of the birds have been staying in the city limits.

"There is lot of birds around, but we are anxious for them to spread out and this should happen when the weather gets colder," he said.

There are a lot of corn fields yet to cut and he lists this as a factor. Contact Ben at 431-3873
