This year's Columbia Falls Night of Lights will take place on Friday, Dec. 2. Karl Skindingsrude and his Special K Music company will MC this year's event. A live nativity scene will be enacted near Glacier Discovery Square.

Parade registration forms are available at Glacier Bank, Glacier Discovery Square, NAPA Auto Columbia Falls, Roger Newman's dentist office and online at www.columbiafallsrotary.org.

Friday, Dec. 2

9 a.m. to 8 p.m. - Craft fair at North Valley Senior Citizens Center.

4 to 8 p.m. - Soup supper at North Valley Senior Citizens Center.

5 p.m. - Local holiday craft vendors at Teakettle Community Hall and Glacier Discovery Square.

5 p.m. - Parade line up begins at the post office going north on Nucleus Avenue and Railroad Street.

5:30 p.m. - Judging of parade floats begins.

6:30 p.m. - Night of Lights parade begins.

7:30 p.m. - Immediately following the parade, Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit children at Glacier Discovery Square.

7:30 p.m. - After the parade, the lights at the Children's Holiday Village in Marantette Park will be turned on for the season.

Saturday, Dec. 3

9 a.m. to noon - A brunch with Santa will take place at Glacier Discovery Square with a silent auction. Cost is $10 adults and children over-13 and free for children 12-and-under with a paid adult. The brunch is hosted by the local Rotary Club and benefits the Boys and Girls Club in Columbia Falls.

Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
