COEUR d'ALENE - Daytime burglaries continue to occur in Coeur d'Alene.
A resident in the 1000 block of north Second Street reported a burglary between 3-4 p.m. Saturday. She told police someone took a laptop and a jewelry box, and also searched drawers and cabinets throughout the house.
She said she saw a dark-colored sedan parked near her home, with a man sitting in the driver's seat about the time of the burglary.
She told police when she walked in the back door, she found it was unlocked and items inside were missing.
A couple in the 3400 block of West Loxton Loop told police that they left their home around 2 p.m. Friday. When they returned two hours later, they found that someone had tried to force open the front door, but the deadbolt lock held.
A neighbor told police he saw two suspects in the doorway alcove of the home around 2 p.m., but didn't think much of it. One was tall and thin with dark clothing, and the other was shorter, also with dark clothing.
Two other Coeur d'Alene residents reported break-ins in the past week. Items were stolen from a garage and a storage unit.
Police have reported a rising number of burglaries in past months, and urge residents to lock doors and watch for suspicious activity in their neighborhood.
