OTHELLO - Running back Joey Gomez scored two touchdowns on a rain-soaked afternoon as the Othello Huskies got by the Steilacoom Sentinels 14-0 Saturday.

The win advances Othello to a second round 2A showdown with Archbishop Murphy this Saturday at 1 p.m. at Tumwater Stadium.

Othello got on the board in the first quarter on a 8-yard run and 2-point conversion by Gomez. A stingy opportunistic Huskies defense kept Steilacoom off the board through out the entire contest

Gomez scored again in the fourth quarter for Othello (kick failed) to put the Huskies up 14-0 and close the door on the Sentinels season.

Caleb Garza led the ground-and-pound attack for Othello with 131 yards on 18 carries. Gomez added 46 yards on 12 totes of the rock.

The Huskies quarterback David Garza was 6-of-13 for 108 yards. Othello defense limited the Sentinels to 30 passing yards on three attempts, while giving up 137 yards on the ground.
