In my last article titled "Who is 'Dr. Bruce' and why is what he does so important?," I talked about some of the unique aspects of my practice such as "brain balancing" aimed at clearing up the causes behind the symptoms and how even prestigious medical schools such as Stanford University, Southwestern University, Harvard University and New York University have recently released research confirming that ... "these type of cellular memories (emotional triggers) may very well be the missing piece of the puzzle in health and healing."

I also stated that having the best techniques, equipment, supplements or Diet/Treatment such as Ideal Protein, may not be enough for some patients who have internal struggles that sabotage their efforts, be it losing weight, getting over almost any health condition, being successful at work or having good relationships. The mechanism of this type of sabotage and the cellular memory causing it just recently played out on a patient on our Ideal Protein Diet/Treatment.

"Bob" (not his real name) is a wonderful retired man in his mid-60s who started the program with every intention of being successful. His Health Profile that he filled out for his consultation revealed that he had most of the symptoms of the Metabolic Syndrome namely central obesity (he weighed 300 pounds), type II diabetes (on meds), high blood pressure (on meds) and associated with obesity he also had sleep apnea (on a CPAP machine).

On a scale of 1-10 he indicated that his motivation level was a 10 which meant that he was "all in." But after four months and successfully losing 51 pounds he "cheated" not just once but three times in one week and went up four pounds. One month later after losing 13 pounds he "cheated" again and gained two pounds. One week later he is one pound heavier and of course "cheated."

When I checked his "intent" and the emotions associated with the "3 O's" ("obesity," "over eating" and "overweight") five emotions were present and were "deleted" with "brain balancing." He soon left for a trip to New Mexico taking his food for the trip with him.

When he returned he was 13 pounds heavier. When I asked him what happened he very honestly told me that he had a burning desire for junk food and that when the desire overcomes him he goes out not for just one piece but for "a bag full." (To be continued.)

In my next article I will tell of his revelation of a childhood experience that has set in motion behavior that overrides rational thinking, the fear for his health and the success that he had up to that point.

If this sounds like you or something similar where in one way or another you were sabotaging your efforts to lose weight, be successful at work, in healing or relationships be sure to read my next article. The Skinny on Weight Loss: Part I

As attested to by the many ads in the media, we are a nation of dieters. According to the Surgeon General of the United States, "The greatest threat to our country isn't terrorism, it's obesity." Perhaps more of us should be thinking about losing the unhealthy extra weight we've accumulated. But losing weight is physiologically unnatural. Many of you have tried can attest to that and that's why 95 percent of people who have successfully lost weight will gain it back.
