Cd'A could see first decent snowfall

COEUR d'ALENE- North Idaho's first winter storm of the season could arrive today, and drop 3-5 inches of snow on Coeur d'Alene, and maybe more north of here.

"You'll know it's winter, at least for a couple of days," said climatologist Cliff Harris.

He said there will be heavier snowfall in the mountains.

A storm in the Cascades on Thursday was headed this way, Harris said, and could dump the most snow in one day on us since January.

It will be cold this weekend, with lows in the teens and highs in the mid-20s, and winds up to 15 mph.

Wednesday's 17 degrees was the coldest day in Coeur d'Alene in nine months.

Areas like Twin Lakes and Rathdrum could get 5-7 inches of snow before this storm passes through.

It's expected to warm up next week, and the snow at lower elevations will turn to rain.
