NIC men top Bison behind Lewis' 21

PABLO, Mont. - Keon Lewis scored a game-high 21 points as the North Idaho Cardinals defeated the Salish-Kootenai Bison 80-71 in a nonconference men's basketball game on Thursday night.
"Keon just attacked the rim tonight," NIC coach Jared Phay said. "He got a lot of easy buckets that way tonight."
Before the start of the game, Salish-Kootenai honored the memory of Marvin Lewis, a Bison player who drowned in South Dakota over the summer.
"It was a pretty emotional night for them," Phay said. "Those guys came out and played hard."
Michael Middlebrooks had 13 points and 12 rebounds for NIC (4-0), which hosts Salish-Kootenai again next Friday in the North Idaho College Thanksgiving tournament at 7:30 p.m. at Christianson Gym.
"It was a tough win for us," Phay said. "Any win on the road is tough, but it was good for us to grow as a team."
