It is amazing to me that the Moses Lake irrigation district has taken such a strong stand against Mick Hansen. They may be fine, upstanding citizens that work for the Moses Lake irrigation district, but since I live on the lake, I would want the board to be above reproach. Why wouldn't you want a check and balance system in your elections? When we voted at the last election, there were so many unanswered questions about who could vote and how many votes each person got, etc.

Moses Lake is growing in leaps and bounds and the old ways of doing business have to go. This is not a personal attack against the board. It is the public wanting some answers which we are entitled to. Mick got a lot of votes the last time so there must be quite a few people that feel the same way as him. I count myself as one of them. Quit acting like children and lets get on with the work that has to get done.

Reader supports Mick Hansen for commission

I read in the newspaper where Curt Carpenter of the Moses Lake Irrigation and Rehabilitation District is going to get a pay raise of $100,000 a year. With a downturned economy, what would make the board decide on such a huge pay raise? Boeing engineers in Seattle make between $81,000 and $91,000 a year. I live on the lake, so I pay for your salary and no one is worth $100,000! We need to elect Mick Hansen to the board so we have some accountability and no more rubber stamp, good old boy politics!
