Chatwin says he's no longer pursuing other job opportunities

HAYDEN - Hayden City Administrator Stefan Chatwin said Tuesday he is no longer looking for a job.
"My family and I, we're very happy here," Chatwin said. "This is our home."
He said it's always been his preference to stay the city's administrator.
Earlier this month, however, it was reported Chatwin was a finalist for a town manager position in Frisco, Colo., and that he was looking at more than half a dozen other jobs outside Hayden City Hall.
Chatwin declined to say what changed since then and prompted him to abandon his pursuit of different employment opportunities. It was likely the result of the recent mayoral election in Hayden.
Incumbent Mayor Ron McIntire beat City Councilwoman Nancy Lowery. In June, three members of the city council, including Lowery, voted to terminate his employment contract with the city. McIntire didn't back the effort to get rid of Chatwin, and the effort failed.
"That scared him a little bit, well a lot actually," said City Councilman Dick Panabaker, who opposed Lowery and the others in their effort to dumb Chatwin. "That blindsided him."
Chatwin said, "I have a lot of respect for the mayor, Ron McIntire, that's no secret."
Chatwin said he also enjoys working with the current city staff members.
"All those things together make for a terrific environment," Chatwin said.
Lowery's seat on the city council will be filled by Tim Timmins, who just won the contested election against Kris LaMarr. Lowery abandoned her seat on the council to run for mayor.
Panabaker said he wants Chatwin to stick around.
"I think he's a pretty smart guy, and he's a good administrator," Panabaker said. "I've supported him all the way through."
He said Chatwin has made some good personnel changes at the city.
"He wants to help Hayden survive," Panabaker said.
