Louise Grace Atherton (O'Blenes) born Nov. 27, 1929, in Lynn, Mass., passed away Nov. 19, 2011, in Coeur d'Alene. Louise was the daughter of Chandler and Olive O'Blenes (Russell) of Lynn who both preceded her in death.
Sister of Russell O'Blenes (deceased), Vivian Vienot of Albuquerque, N.M., Burpee O'Blenes (deceased), Virginia Galvin of Lynn, Chandler O'Blenes (deceased) and Richard O'Blenes (deceased).
Louise grew up in Lynn and was married right after high school to John A. Atherton (deceased). They had three children, John, (deceased) Richard married to Anna Gallardo (Garden Grove, Calif.) and Penny Atherton married to Paul "Chris" Barone (Hayden Lake).
Louise was known as "Nana" to her grand and great-grandchildren: John A. Atherton IV and wife Pamela and their children: MacKenzie, Alayna, Savannah and John V, of Hemet, Calif.; Aaron R. Atherton and wife Julianne and their children: Alia, Jude, and James, of Lancaster, Calif.; Krista B. Thorud and husband Roy and their son: Henrik of Baerums Verk, Norway; and Rickie L. Liniger and husband Joshua and their children: Jacob and Joseph of Pasco, Wash. She also had many nieces and nephews she loved dearly who reside mostly in California and Massachusetts.
Before Louise became ill with Alzheimer's, she was very active in the church she loved - Faith Baptist in Spokane. Her favorite pastimes were cooking, reading her Bible, volunteering at her beloved church and just being with her family. Before she retired, Louise was a sales clerk at Virginia's Gift Shop in Knott's Berry Farm. Mom/Nana, your radiant beautiful smile will be missed. But we know you are with your loved ones in heaven and that gives us peace.
The family plans to scatter Louise and John Atherton's ashes in a private family celebration of their lives in California.
In lieu of flowers, the family would gratefully accept donations in Louise's honor to the Coeur d'Alene High School Viking Vault, 5530 N. Fourth St., Coeur d'Alene, ID 83815, a free store for students who cannot afford school supplies.
