MOSES LAKE - Habitat for Humanity's 17th annual Festival of Trees Saturday offers food, auctions and a chance to support a good cause.

The event is one of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Moses Lake's main fundraisers and supports the organization's goal of eliminating substandard housing in the community.

The festival features a live auction of 12 live fir trees decorated according to themes, complete with gifts.

Last year's highest bid for a tree was $1,250, said Habitat board member Sally Voight. Typically, the trees are sold for between $500 and $1,000 each.

Habitat for Humanity sells homes to selected families through a no-profit, financed, no-interest loan. Each family also invests at least 450 hours of work into building their home.

The festival is Saturday at the Big Bend Community College ATEC building, 7662 Chanute St. NE, building 1800. A silent auction kicks things off at 5:30 p.m. Dinner is 7 p.m. and the live auction is 8 p.m.

Tickets are $55, $100 for a couple, or $375 for a table of eight people.
