A 16-year-old Flathead Valley boy was sentenced in Flathead District Court on Wednesday for sexual assault on a 6-year-old girl.

Jacob Dalager was sentenced to 20 years with all time after Dec. 6, 2012 — the date of his 18th birthday — suspended. He was ordered to complete the first phase of the sex offender program while serving his time at Pine Hills Youth Correctional Facility.

Dalager earlier had pleaded guilty to felony sexual intercourse without consent.

An additional felony charge of sexual assault against Dalager had been dropped in exchange for his guilty plea.

On Sept. 10, 2011, Dalager sexually molested a 6-year-old girl while she was at his home to play with his younger sister.

Judge Stewart Stadler was stern in his comments to Dalager.

“There is no wiggle room in this,” Stadler said, later adding “if you do not get that treatment, the only other alternative is prison.”

Dalager also was ordered to pay a fine of $1,000, a public defender fee of $100 and a prosecution fee of $100.

He was further ordered to earn his General Equivalency Diploma.
