POST FALLS - The body of Cheryl Corbett, a 61-year-old Post Falls woman missing since Nov. 10, was found in the Spokane River by an Avista employee on Monday afternoon.

Detectives said there are no immediate signs of foul play.

Corbett's body was found on the South Channel below the dam that Avista operates.

"It's an unfortunate closure to the case," Post Falls Police Chief Scot Haug said. "We hoped that we'd locate her alive, but unfortunately this does close this chapter."

A Kootenai County Sheriff's Department dive team was called to recover the body from the river.

Corbett lived in the Waterside Apartments at 415 Waterside Drive on the Spokane River in the Post Falls Landing development near the dam.

A dive team recently searched the river in that area, but was unable to find Corbett.

An investigation by the KCSD continues.

Corbett is believed to have left her house with a large amount of medication, police said. She left her vehicle, keys, purse, wallet and identification at her home.

Meanwhile, Post Falls Police responded to the apartment on Thanksgiving night and found Cheryl's husband James, 65, unable to walk and respond to questions. He was transported to Kootenai Medical Center to be treated. He remained in the hospital on Monday, police said.

Police said they are unsure what happened to James, but there were no signs of foul play and there was no clear evidence in the apartment as to what led to his condition.

A concerned relative called police after James didn't respond to messages.
