Crescent Bar lot owners consider buying island lease holding entity

CRESCENT BAR - Crescent Bar Island lot owners are invited to a meeting tomorrow morning, Saturday, Oct. 1, for a discussion about buying Crescent Bar Inc.
The 1 p.m. meeting at Monument Elementary School in Quincy will be conducted by the leaders of the three homeowner associations and attorneys who represent plaintiffs in the lease lawsuit against the Grant County PUD.
By buying Crescent Bar Inc. the lot owners would change their position in the line of leases. The PUD, which owns the island, leases it to the Port of Quincy, which sub-leases it to CBI, which sub-leases it, in the form of lots, to island residents.
According to Crescent Bar Condos leader Doug Caton, there is no plan to buy CBI. The idea has been discussed by leaders, and tomorrow's meeting is for further discussion among all lot owners. The invitation asks lot owners to bring their questions.
On the lawsuit front, yesterday was 20 days from the date Federal Judge Justin Quackenbush said he needed 20 days to make a decision about an injunction against any eviction action by the PUD.
According to North Park leader JoAnn Hansen, there was no word from Quackenbush yesterday, and she didn't expect any. Her understanding on Sept. 9 was that Quackenbush was allowing 10 days for briefs from one side, then 10 for the other side on the matter of possible conflict of interest for PUD attorney.
Then, Hansen said, Quackenbush would need time to consider the briefs and come to a conclusion.
