Trojans sweep 'Jacks, Bears

POST FALLS - Savannah Hill and Tori Bertsch had six aces apiece for the Post Falls Trojans, who finished with 24 total in a 25-9, 25-14, 25-11 nonleague win over the St. Maries Lumberjacks on Saturday at The Arena.

Ashley Jibby had six kills and five digs, Bertsch five kills and 14 assists, Brooke Litalien six digs, Jazmin Chavez five digs and Natalie Sarff four blocks for Post Falls (19-5).

"The aces were definitely a key to that match," Post Falls coach Willow Hanna said. "We just served really well and made it difficult for St. Maries to get anything going."

Jaylee Sines had nine assists, Mariah Gladden four kills and three blocks, Abbey Anderson three blocks and Kristina Halvorsen three digs for St. Maries.

Earlier, Jibby had nine kills and Bertsch 17 assists as the Trojans beat the Moscow Bears 25-15, 25-13, 25-14 in a nonleague match.

"I thought we played well and executed our offense," Hanna said.

Danielle Failor had four blocks and Allison Meehan four aces for Post Falls, which travels to the Crossover Classic on Friday and Saturday in Spokane.

Marlee Masterson had 13 kills and six digs as the Lumberjacks beat Moscow 25-19, 25-17, 25-11.

Gladden had six blocks and Sines had 27 assists for St. Maries (13-5), which travels to Kellogg on Tuesday.

Coeur d'Alene drops pair

COEUR d'ALENE - Kayla McGlathery and Anyssa Matheson had 12 kills apiece, but the Vikings fell to the Bengals 25-18, 25-19, 21-25, 25-15 in a 5A Inland Empire League match at Elmer Jordan Court.

Ashley Hammons had 29 assists, Demi Johnson 13 digs, Taylor Gould 10 digs and Sydney Williams two blocks for Coeur d'Alene (8-9, 1-5 5A IEL).

Later, McGlathery had eight kills and four blocks in the Vikings' 25-19, 14-25, 25-18, 25-11 loss to Glacier of Kalispell, Mont.

Hammons had 17 assists, Johnson seven digs and Matheson and Williams had four aces apiece for Coeur d'Alene (8-10), which hosts Sandpoint on Tuesday.

"Ashley Hammons did a really good job in running our offense today," Coeur d'Alene coach Dee Pottenger said. "Her set location and selection were great and Demi Johnson had a really good day also. We're stilling working on being more consistent and will keep working on that in practice."

Timberlake captures tourney title

GENESEE - Kelly Madsen totaled 25 kills, 38 digs and five aces as the Tigers captured the Pea and Lentil Spikeoff, beating the Genesee Bulldogs 23-25, 25-15, 15-8 in the championship match.

"I thought we played well all day," Timberlake coach Michelle Garwood said. "Last year, we did the opposite and lost to Genesee in the championship, so I know the girls were remembering that. They fought hard the whole time and it was nice to watch them, especially after the rough week we had."

Timberlake beat Deary 25-15, 25-13, Orofino 25-16, 25-17 and lost to Genesee 25-16, 25-16 in pool play before beating Pomeroy 25-27, 25-21, 15-8 to advance to the championship match.

Madsen and Jenna Hoffman were selected to the six-player all-tournament team for Timberlake (11-7), which travels to Bonners Ferry on Tuesday.

"Jenna had a great tournament and Nichelle Eastmond played well all-around," Garwood said. "Several of our kids did a great job today."

Sydnie Malloy had 57 assists and Hannah Moseley six blocks for Timberlake.

Lake City d. Glacier (Mont.)

COEUR d'ALENE - Kylie Curtis had 23 kills, three aces and 16 assists as the Timberwolves defeated the Wolfpack from Kalispell 25-13, 27-25, 22-25, 25-22 in a nonleague match.

Camille Rounds had 25 assists and Kasey Widmyer six blocks and Katie Winger seven digs for Lake City (11-5), which travels to Lakeland on Tuesday.

COEUR d'ALENE - Courtney Lawson had 11 assists and two aces, but the Royals fell to the Knights 25-19, 25-14, 25-11 in Mountain Christian League play at Project CDA.

Alexis Bassett had five kills and Kana Shanley had eight digs for North Idaho Christian (3-6, 2-5 MCL), which plays host to The Oaks on Monday at Project CDA.
