Single-stream recycling starts in Post Falls today

POST FALLS - Single-stream recycling starts in Post Falls today and residents will begin using their new dark blue bins.

Residents have the option of keeping their old blue recycle bin for free for personal use if they like. If they don't want the old bin, it will be picked up for recycling beginning Oct. 24. Residents are asked to put the old unwanted bin out on their regular garbage pickup day. Due to the possible large volumes of pickup, if it is not picked up that day, they can take it back out again the following week for pickup.

Recycling pickup will be every other week during residents' regular garbage collection day starting the first week of October. Garbage pickup will remain weekly.Single stream allows for co-mingling of 21 recyclables, including paper, junk mail, phonebooks, plastics, aluminum, cereal boxes and cardboard, as opposed to residents separating materials prior to pickup.

For FAQs on single stream recycling, visit www.postfallsidaho.org. For questions or concerns, call Post Falls Sanitation at 457-1820.
