Whitefish’s boys cross country squad

continued their dominate season with a team-win Sept. 29 at the

Thompson Falls Invite. The Bulldogs were led by Jace Kalbfleisch

(16:55) and Fischer Gangemi (16:58) who finished in fifth and

seventh place, respectively.

Keaton Grove (17:45), Elias Taylor

(17:47) and Thomas Henson (17:57) rounded out the top-five for

Whitefish.

“Jace and Fischer ran really well

today,”Whitefish coach Bill Brist said. “Keaton, Elias and Thomas

did a great job, as well. It was great to see our top five runners

under the 18-minute mark. This was the first time that we’ve been

able to achieve that level this season. I’m really looking forward

to seeing even better things from all of our runners during the

final three meets ahead of us.”

The Lady Bulldogs finished in second

place, five points back of Columbia Falls.

Rebecca Holdhusen (20:55) led the team

with a fourth place finish. Nicole Brist (20:57) took fifth

overall.

Maya Gordon (21:02), Emma Marchetti

(21:17) and Peyton Tvete (22:27) rounded out the top-five.

“Our top four runners, Rebecca, Nicole,

Maya and Emma, are running really well right now,” Brist said.

“We’re still looking at our number five spot to give us a real shot

at competing with the top teams by the end of the season. We have a

good group of young runners making a move to close the gap.

“Peyton Twete did a great job stepping

into our number five spot at this competition. I was really happy

with everyone on the team and their performances. They continue to

improve as the season progresses, and that is what we are looking

to happen.”

Whitefish hosts their annual meet this

Saturday at the high school with the first race starting at 11

a.m.

“It will be an eight-team field, so

we’ll have our work cut out for us, but I think that both teams

will take advantage of running in front of the home crowd,” Brist

said. “It will be a great finish to our regular season.”
