Did I tell you I was going to do some fishing off the coast of Oregon?  Well I did recently, and it was a great experience.  I was fishing where the Nehalem River meets the Pacific as the guest of a former top guide in this area that now lives in Leavenworth.

Richard Robinson loves this area so much that he purchased a home in Nehalem and fishes here as often as possible.  This is prime time for both kings and coho, and along with Kevin Winters of Leavenworth and Mike Kitner of Wenatchee we fished mouth of the jetty here, also known as the Jaws.

Robinson hasn't lost his touch.  He navigated his 20-foot boat through the rollers and breakers and got limits for all three of us, which is one king and one coho per day.  Winters landed a 35-pound king and I got a coho that weighed over 16 pounds.  Kitner got a smaller king and a coho almost as large as mine.

We didn't limit the following day, but we did take the crab pots along and came home with 15 nice Dungeness crab to make up for the salmon shortfall.  These are beautiful fish and there are even larger ones available here.  I can't wait to go back for another try.

I had a great experience the other day. I had stopped by Hooked on Toys in Wenatchee and ran into someone that I knew from Lake Chelan.
