Pavement overlays scheduled

Five streets across Whitefish will soon
have new pavement. City council awarded a $164,405 overlay project
to Knife River at their Sept. 19 regular meeting with work slated
to start this fall.
Streets getting new pavement include
West 4th Street, East 5th Street, East 2nd Street between Larch
Avenue and Armory Road, Park Avenue between East 7th and 8th
Streets, and Denver Street between Wisconsin and Colorado
Avenues.
• Whitefish City Council voted
unanimously at their Sept. 19 meeting to approve a conditional use
permit regarding an expansion of Sunlight Montessori. The daycare
on Berg Lane is expanding operations to handle up to 18 children.
The permit was approved with eight conditions, including that the
daycare should use U.S. 93 to access the property.
• Council passed a resolution
maintaining the cash-in-lieu payment in connection with affordable
housing at $11,000 per unit. The resolution allows developers to
have additional density on a parcel of land if they provide
affordable housing or pay the fee-in-lieu-of per extra unit.
• Council passed a resolution
specifying an inflationary rate increase for water and wastewater
services beginning Oct. 1. The inflation increase is set at 2
percent for water and 5 percent for wastewater, which is reduced
from the Consumer Price Index inflation increase of 5.7
percent.
• A $576,033 contract was awarded to
LHC, Inc. for the Scott Avenue lift station and sewer improvement
projects.
