COEUR d'ALENE - Janele Vogt and Yang Yang had 19 kills apiece as the 11th-ranked North Idaho Cardinals defeated Carroll College 26-24, 25-15, 20-25, 25-18 in a nonconference volleyball match at Christianson Gymnasium on Tuesday night.

"We started off playing really well, which is always good to see," NIC coach Kandice Kelly said. "We made a lot of errors in the third game and Carroll played really well, but our middles were unstoppable tonight. Janele had the best game I've seen her have. It was smooth and consistent, but we still had too many service errors, which I wasn't happy about."

Sierra Pancho had 47 assists, Emily Sarff 15 digs and Yang 14 digs for NIC (14-7), which hosts Colorado Northwestern on Thursday in a Scenic West Athletic Conference match.

"Thursday's going to be a tough match," said Kelly of Colorado Northwestern. "They just beat Snow in five games, so it will be a battle."

Former Coeur d'Alene High standout Natalie Stewart had 13 assists for Carroll (15-7) of the NAIA.

"She's a great setter and did really well," said Kelly of Stewart. "She runs that team well and adds a lot of energy on the court. She makes the right passes to the right players."
