Polson goes 2-0 against Whitefish

WHITEFISH - After going to five games and winning against Whitefish in the opening match of the season, Polson downed their conference foe 3-1 last Saturday behind 17 kills by senior Riley Kenney.
The Lady Pirates took the 2-0 match lead by winning 25-21 in the first game and then dominating the second game 25-12. Whitefish would bounce back and take the third game, 25-22 but Polson finished them off with a 25-22 win in the fourth game for the match.
Junior setter Shalaina Duford was instrumental in the victory, dishing out 40 assists and then anchoring the defense with 21 digs. Heidi Rausch continued her spree of terror around the net with 11 kills and two aces.
Polson doubled Whitefish's kill total, earning 50, and digs, with 74.
POLSON 3, LOYOLA 1
On Thursday, Polson was able to take care of business by winning the final two games for the 3-1 victory over nonconference foe Loyola. The Lady Pirates won the first game handily 25-11 before falling in the second 25-14.
Then the two teams played two close games with Polson getting the victories, 25-22 and 25-23. Kenzie Clay was the offensive force for the Lady Pirates with 10 kills, while Riley Kenney gathered 22 digs and Shalaina Duford had 28 assists. As a team, Polson had 89 digs.
Polson improved its record to 6-2.
