Wings to hold 5K run for benefit
To show support for local Wings
Chapter, a benefit for local cancer patients, the organization W.E.
Running has organized a 5K run/walk at 11 a.m. Oct. 16 in Troy.
Wings proceeds support patients with
travel, food and lodging during their cancer treatments.
Participants must call Josie Fisher at
208 640-3252 before Oct. 16 for preregistration, cost is $25.
U.S. Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., showed
his support for the benefit in a letter to Wings:
"I am thrilled to express my support
for the W.E. 5 K Run/Walk in Troy, Montana. When you started this
special event in July 2011, you said you had no idea it would
garner such an outpouring of support from Troy and especially the
surrounding communities. I wish you nothing but the best in your
efforts to host another run on October 16th to benefit the local
Wings Chapter.
One of the reasons I am so proud to
represent Montana in the U.S. Senate, is Montanans' commitment to
helping out their neighbors, this event does exactly that. The W.E.
5K Run/Walk not only teaches and encourages the community of
Lincoln County to keep active, it also shows support for those who
are fighting against cancer. Hosting this event to benefit Wings, a
100% volunteer organization to help cancer patients with travel,
food and lodging during their treatment, is a nobal cause.
As an avid runner I personally know the
positive effects of keeping active. I applaud those in the
community who are participating in this event and are committed to
keeping our citizen's active and healthy. Again, I am proud to
support the W.E. 5K and your effort to support your neighbors.
Sincerely,
Max Baucus
