WENATCHEE - The Lady Chiefs soccer team solidified its position a atop the standings with a 3-0 win over the Lady Panthers in Big 9 action Tuesday.

Alysha Overland got Moses Lake on the board with a goal in the 29th minute of play off an assist by Caylah Lunning. The lead held up through the first half of play as The Lady Chiefs defense took control of the match.

Moses Lake increased its lead to 2-0 at the start of the second half on a corner kick by Lunning, then finding little resistance from the Panthers, pushed the score to 3-0 on a goal off a cross from Lizzi McGraw to Vanessa McNair who drilled it into the back of the net.

Goalkeeper Heidi Palmers had four saves.

The win improves the Chiefs record to 6-1 and lands the team in first place, a half game ahead of Richland.

"I thought the girls played well," coach Ricardo Char said. "It was good to see us bounce back after a tough loss to Davis on Saturday."

Although the team is tops in the league, Char said the girls still have work to if they expect to maintain thier position in the standings in the second half of league play.

"We need to be more prepared and focused at the task at hand," he said. "If we do that, we should be in good shape."

Moses Lake hosts the 2-5 Lady Riverhawks from Chiawana Tuesday.

"They may be in the middle of the pack, but we expect a competitive match," Char said. "They'll be motivated to knock us off because we came back from an 0-2 deficit on their field to score three goals in the last nine minutes of the game."

Chars said it will be nice to be at home for the revenge match.

"It should be a good atmosphere," he said. "We are looking forward to playing in front of the home crowd."
