COEUR d'ALENE - An employee of the Moose Lounge told police he was beat up by a group of men on Sunday while taking out the trash at the popular downtown watering hole.

A Coeur d'Alene police report said the man reported being blind-sided by a blow to the head as he lifted garbage into a Dumpster, sending him to the ground in the alley on the north side of the lounge.

The man, a 27-year-old Coeur d'Alene resident, told police he started to see black and believes he lost consciousness.

When he regained consciousness, he was still lying on the ground, where he was kicked and punched by four to five men, he told police. The Moose is on the northeast corner of Sherman Avenue and Fourth Street.

"He could not give me a description of the males except (that) they were white," an officer's report said.

The alleged victim told police he had not had problems with people inside the bar, and has no idea why he was attacked.

He told police he had money on him, but it wasn't taken.

A doctor found several fractures around one eye, and his sinuses, the report said. Police were provided with photographs.

The report said there were no witnesses.

"There are numerous questions to be asked about this case," said Coeur d'Alene police Sgt. Christie Wood.

Detectives have not re-contacted the alleged victim, she said.
