POLSON — A Ronan man pleaded guilty to criminal distribution of dangerous drugs in Lake County district court last Thursday after he was caught selling straws with meth in them in Pablo.
According to court documents, 26-year-old Isaac Cordova signed a plea agreement and pled guilty to selling meth to a Divisional of Criminal Investigation (DCI) agent and an informant who worked together to buy meth from Cordova on two separate occasions.
Cordova faces a maximum penalty of life in prison and a fine of $50,000. As part of the plea agreement, the state will recommend 10 years in prison with eight years suspended.
According to the court affidavit, an informant had contacted the DCI agent on Aug. 24 and told him that Cordova was selling meth. The informant arranged a deal with Cordova the next day and the two met him at a Pablo grocery store.
Cordova gave them several sealed plastic staws, filled with what would be later tested and identified as meth. The DCI paid Cordova $750 for the transaction.
On Aug. 26, according to court documents, the informant and DCI agent met with Cordova again, this time on Light Road and again, he gave the two a plastic bag containing six sealed straws.
The Montana State Crime Lab would later identify the substance inside those straws as meth as well.
