Kootenai 32
HARRISON FLATS - Jeremy Stivers caught a 58-yard touchdown pass from Brandon Smith with 1:13 remaining as the Knights edged the Warriors in a North Star League game.
"It was a great game," Kootenai coach Doug Napierala said. "It was a pretty good finish."
Kootenai returned the ensuing kickoff to the 35-yard line, but a late pass from Brandon Carman bounced off a receiver's hands to a Lakeside defender for an interception in the endzone with four seconds remaining.
"They scored twice right before the half within 45 seconds," Napierala said. "You give us those two scores back on defensive screwups, it's a different game. They got some breaks, but we gave them the opportunity and they capitalized. If you give us back those three or four mistakes, we might have been able to win that game."
Carman finished with 128 yards rushing for Kootenai (2-5, 2-4 NSL), which has a bye next week and returns to host Mullan on Oct. 21.
Lakeside (6-1, 5-1) hosts Wallace on Oct. 21.
