SANDPOINT, Idaho (AP) — A northern Idaho man has pleaded guilty to using a prepaid credit card scam to steal more than $6,000 in fuel from a Priest River gas station.

The Bonner County Daily Bee reports (http://bit.ly/pgaSn3 ) prosecutors recommend Tony Allen Lambert serve two to four years in prison for felony grand theft. They've also asked a judge to retain jurisdiction, which means Lambert could become eligible for parole in a year.

A Nov. 22 sentencing has been scheduled.

Authorities say Lambert purchased 100 to 120 gallons of fuel Priest River Family Oil last summer using prepaid credit cards that were worth less than the gas. Lambert was accused of taking advantage of the gas station's credit card authorization process to carry out his scam, filling 55-gallon drums with fuel he later sold.
