Cards win North Idaho College Invite

HAYDEN - The North Idaho College mens No. 2 team won their own tournament Monday, beating four other teams and winning for the first time at the third annual North Idaho College Invitational at Avondale Golf Club.
Dylan Morrison shot 73-73-146 to place third individually, leading his NIC team to the title.
"That was his first top-5 finish," NIC golf coach Derrick Thompson said. "It was a real solid round on a course that always plays tough."
Arlee Coleman and Rachel Westby each finished at 174 for the North Idaho women, who placed fourth.
"The three teams we played against are really good," Thompson said. "It's a good experience for our ladies, we want them to face this tough competition early in the year."
Both teams are back in action at LCSC Invitational at Lewiston Country Club on Sunday and Monday.

COEUR d'ALENE - Yang Yang put down 15 kills to lead the North Idaho College attack in a 25-19, 25-18, 25-21 nonleague win over Community Colleges of Spokane on Monday at Christianson Gymnasium.
Mariah Smith added 12 digs and six blocks and Sierra Pancho finished with 30 assists for the Cardinals (16-7), who travel to Ephraim, Utah, to face Snow College on Thursday and Salt Lake CC on Saturday in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
Tied 19-19 in the third set, North Idaho rallied to seal the win.
"We started off a little slow but it's always good to see that we can finish," NIC coach Kandice Kelly said. "Spokane is much better than last year. We need to start off a little better against our next two opponents."
