Bulldogs take down Troy for homecoming victory
ST. IGNATIUS - It turns out the perfect remedy for three consecutive losses is a home matchup with a winless opponent.
Dylan Evans rushed for two touchdowns from a yard out and Austin Durglo ignited the offense with a 20-yard dash of his own as the Mission Bulldogs returned to the win column with a 23-12 victory over the visiting Troy Trojans.
With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 2-4 on the season. The offense struggled in two of those contests, but got back on track in the second quarter.
With Mission down 6-0, Durglo found paydirt, tying the game. Shortly thereafter, Evans' first touchdown run gave the Bulldogs a 13-6 halftime lead.
Out of the break, Evans scored again before Durglo pounded the rock into the end zone on the two-point conversion for a 21-6 edge.
That was enough for the defense, who added a safety later in the quarter to expand the lead. The Trojans added a meaningless TD in the fourth quarter to wrap up the scoring.
The Bulldogs hit the road this week when they travel to Deer Lodge to face the Wardens. Game time is set for Friday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m.
