CST presents 'G.I. Holiday Jukebox'

"G.I. Holiday Jukebox" will be presented during the holidays by Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre at The Coeur d'Alene Resort.

Set during World War II, Christmas time, the show features four fictitious Hollywood stars who put together a string of 1940s hits and Christmas music to entertain "the boys" at the front. Filled with great standards, holiday music and comedy, the show is reminiscent of the USO shows of yesteryear. The cast sings some of the best music of the 20th century, including tributes to The Andrews Sisters, Bing Crosby, Spike Jones and many more.

The show runs from Nov. 23 to Dec. 25 with performances on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. and matinee shows on Sundays at 3 p.m.

Ticket prices: $25 for prime, $20 for regular adult tickets (ages 13 and up) and $18 for children (ages 6-12). Parking is included. Overnight and dinner packages are available through The Coeur d'Alene Resort by calling (208) 667-7732.

'The Foreigner' debuts Oct. 20

The North Idaho College Theatre Department is planning to present its fall production of "The Foreigner" at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 20-22 and Oct. 27-29 in the Boswell Hall Schuler Performing Arts Center on NIC's main campus.

"The Foreigner" is a comedy that has been an audience favorite for decades. Charlie's wife is dying and his friend takes him to a remote fishing resort in Georgia to take his mind off things. Charlie panics about having to talk to people, so his friend tells people at the lodge that Charlie is a foreigner and doesn't speak English. Rather than getting people to leave Charlie alone, the ruse causes some people to become fascinated with him and, he in turn, overhears plots that he shouldn't leading to plenty of uproarious confusion and mayhem.

The cast members from Coeur d'Alene include Cory Williamson, Cole Durbin, Jordan Ferraro, Brendan Latimer and Nicholas Madsen. Dylan Stout, from Moscow, and Lauren (Lo) Miles, from Spokane, are also in the cast.

The play is free and open to the public. No infants please.

Hand drumming workshop Oct. 15

Matthew Marsolek of Drum Brothers will present a hand drumming workshop on Oct. 15 at Unity Church of Coeur d'Alene, 4465 N. 15th.

Marsolek has studied East Indian and West African music for the past 18 years with a variety of teachers.

Extra drums will be available. Learn beginning rhythms and explore the techniques and polyrhythmic interplay of West African drumming.

The workshop is 6-7:30 p.m., and is $16 at the door.

Auditions for 'It's a Wonderful Life'

Sandpoint Onstage announces auditions for its Christmas extravaganza at the Panida Theatre - the holiday classic, "It's a Wonderful Life" staged as an old-time radio production circa 1930s, directed by Robert Moore and produced by Ron Ragone.

There are 36 roles for all ages and we are looking to cast every one. If not, actors will play multiple roles (except for the main roles). The main roles are the Announcer, George Bailey, Clarence, The Superintendent of Angels, Mary Bailey, Mr. Potter, Violet and Uncle Billy. There are 14 male roles, 10 female roles and two roles that can be played by a male or a female. There are also roles for two boys ages 10 to 12, and two girls ages 5 to 7 and 8 to 10.

Auditions will be held Monday, Oct. 24 and Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 5:30 p.m. at the Sandpoint library in the "Rude Girls Room." Audition materials will be provided.

Production dates are Dec. 9, 10, 16 and 17, with matinee performances on Dec. 10 and 17.
