JOBS: Still just a stimulus bill
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 14 years, 7 months AGO
This is in response to Laura Massie "JOBS: Bill is good indeed." Miss Massie, supporting data please?
Fact: This is another stimulus bill. Call it what you like. The last stimulus bill did not keep unemployment under 8 percent as Barack Obama said it would. It resulted in a cut to the U.S.'s credit rating.
From a jobs creation perspective the almost trillion dollar stimulus created few jobs at costs in excess of $100K's per job.
Fact: The Dem's are not happy with all aspects of how it is paid for. Another stimulus bill is very unpopular. Not one Democrat has signed onto Barack Obama's jobs bill. It's normal to do so and shows a lack of confidence by his own party.
Fact: Democrats do not want the vote to come up as they do not have the votes for passage. They do not have Democratic support.
Fact: The wealthy pay the bulk of our nation's federal taxes.
Fact: The wealthy contribute the bulk of charitable contributions. This is why the largest charities have expressed concerns on raising taxes on the evil rich.
I am not rich. I am not greedy. But I do want us to live within our means. You and I have to. Government is not the answer. Americans are.
How many countries are successful with large social programs? Sweden and? How many are broke? Virtually all. Ask yourself why.
