Lake City d.

Lewiston

LEWISTON - Kylie Curtis had 12 kills, 10 assists and four aces as the Lake City Timberwolves defeated the Lewiston Bengals 17-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-13 at Booth Hall on Thursday, clinching their first league title since 2006 and earning the right to host the Region 1 tournament starting Thursday night.

"The kids came out a little slow, but after the first game played amazing," Lake City coach Bret Taylor said. "This is probably the best match we've played so far this season. Winning the league title is nice, but I still believe anyone can win this league out of the four, it just depends on the night. We're not going to take anything for granted, but we're very fortunate that it was us this year."

Camille Rounds had 19 assists, Kasey Widmyer six blocks, Mackenzie Brown 16 digs for Lake City (15-5, 5-1 5A IEL), which travels to University on Saturday.

"I felt our group was determined in the fourth game," Taylor said. "That was probably our best defensive game of the match. They were all over the floor and gym chasing the ball down."

Lewiston (18-10, 2-4) will be the third seed to regionals, with Post Falls second and Coeur d'Alene fourth.
