Spink new director of Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center

Liisa Spink is the new director of The Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center in Post Falls.

Spink comes to The JACC from the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon and London where she served as a project manager on large scale events, arts education projects and major collaborations.

"There is a tremendous energy from the community here, and I have been impressed by the dedication of The JACC volunteers, patrons and board," she said. "I am looking forward to getting to know the local area and programming events that serve and challenge the community."

As part of her work at the RSC she developed and produced the first new work on the $180 million newly redeveloped Royal Shakespeare Theatre and Swan Theatre. Her work varied from introducing Prince Charles at an education event, observing rehearsals with Patrick Stewart, to producing online content for the 2011 season of shows in Stratford-upon-Avon, London and New York.

Spink has a bachelor's degree in English literature from UCLA and her master's in Shakespeare studies from the Shakespeare Institute.

North Wind Construction to focus on mine reclamation

The North Wind Group, a small business based out of Idaho Falls, plans to open up its latest subsidiary, North Wind Construction, in Kellogg.

North Wind Construction will be instrumental in mine reclamation and cleanup projects in the Silver Valley, and recently won a contract with Coeur d'Alene Trust, which is responsible for performing investigations, designs and implementation of remedies for environmental impacts associated with former mine-related sites in the Coeur d'Alene River Basin.

North Wind Construction is going to be charged with scouring former mining areas that have been left behind for traces of any hazardous components. They will evaluate groundwater contamination to ensure that mines are safe.

Kevin Redmond, who has worked in the division for years prior to the CIRI purchase and re-alignment, has been named as the president of North Wind Construction.

In the short term, North Wind Construction plans on using the Kellogg office for their construction work throughout the Northwest and Alaska. However, in the long term, they are hopeful that it will eventually serve each of the 50 states.
