Royal Knights edge Wahluke Warriors in volleyball

ROYAL CITY - Royal and Wahluke traded the first four games, and then Royal won the fifth to take a South Central A Conference volleyball match last week.
The game scores were 25-20 Royal, 25-19 Wahluke, 25-14 Royal, 25-20 Wahluke and 15-9 Royal.
"Good team effort," Royal coach Paul Osulfka said.
"The girls worked hard all night," Wahluke coach Rudi Christian said. "The outcome would have been different if we would have been serving to our potential."
Osulfka noted serving was a strong point for the Knights. He said Lindsey and Moriah Christensen had good nights hitting. Lindsey had 12 kills, and Moriah had seven.
The kills were spread out over the Wahluke lineup. Cassandra Villalobos had six kills, Tanya Mendez had five and Marleny Garcia had four.
For Wahluke, Wendy Garcia had nine assists, Mendez had 10 digs, Garcia had six aces (5 straight), Villalobos had eight aces, nine digs and 10 perfect passes, and Maripaz Olivarez had seven digs.
For Royal, Madison Stakkeland served 12-for-12, served an ace and made seven digs, Moriah Christensen served 20-20 with two aces and made 14 digs.
Tonya Iverson had five blocks and three kills, Lindsey Christensen had 11 digs and two aces, Ashlyn Allred served 17-17 with one ace and had eight digs, Tahlia Ledezma served 12-12 with one ace, Cambree Harris served 17-19 with five aces, and Kayla Smith served 7-7 with one ace and three blocks.
