Riverstone building to house mystery tenant
Nils Rosdahl | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 13 years, 3 months AGO
The location is obvious but the occupants aren't for the new building under construction in Riverstone.
It will be a 7,425- square-foot, one-level-with-loft structure at 1745 W. Tilford lane, which is on an acre between the Riverstone Pond and the Centennial Trail and Spokane River. Designed by Patano-Hafferman Architects of Coeur d'Alene, the building is designed to be ultra-energy efficient.
Although negotiations are in the works for the primary tenant, the first occupant probably will be the five employees of the Riverstone Holding Co. They'll move from their current headquarters at 2065 W. Riverstone, and another business will expand into the spaces the Riverstone group will vacate. We should have information on the mystery occupants soon.
Old Hickory Shed on Lee Court
Need a shop, studio, playhouse, storage place? The options at Old Hickory Sheds of North Idaho at 1619 W. Lee Court (next to the Art & Home Center across Appleway from Lowe's) are pretty interesting,
Made at the regional company "factory" in Plains, Mont., the plywood siding-and-floor barn or utility-style structures come in sizes ranging from 8-by-8 feet to 14 x 40 with options of windows, regular doors, barn doors and roll-up garage doors. The floor skids are notched so the joists fit together like Lincoln Logs. The sheds can be wired, insulated and paneled. Local delivery is free.
With its headquarters in Murfreesboro, Tenn., the 14-year-old company has six construction plants and 76 sales locations. Local owners John Motley and Pat Chadwick also plan to have lots in Sandpoint, Moscow and Lewiston. Opening here last month, hours here are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays. Phone 771-0515. Check www.oldhickorysheds.com.
Apartment complex west of Cd'A
A nine-building complex with about 120 rental units on four levels is planned for an 18-acre site across from the Grandmill intersection with Seltice Way and north of Interstate 90 west of Coeur d'Alene.
The units will range from one-bedroom, one-bath to two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Parking garages also will be built, and some units evidently will have views of the Spokane River. The lots right on Seltice Way are labeled "commercial" in the plan and may have business buildings.
The "Mill River" plans with Idlewild Loop as the access road filed with the Coeur d'Alene Building Dept. are from Riverview Ventures of Spokane. Evidently house foreclosures and a continuing population growth show the need for apartments.
Hang on for this week's Tidbits
• Watch for major news about a health group to move to a major building in the Ironwood area.
• Kudos to the housing subdivisions that include parcels for parking RVs and camping trailers.
• Did you know it's illegal to park these critters (mentioned above) more than 24 hours on city streets? Maybe even cars too!
• Whine of the week: tailgaters. When they're too annoying and dangerous (and I'm alone), I'll pump my brakes once, look in my rearview mirror and wave. They'll either comply or give me a one-finger wave. Sigh.
• Style clue: Titles before a name are capped (Pres. Joe Cool); job descriptions are lower case (reporter Joe Cool). If you're not sure, put the job description in commas and lower case after the name (Joe Cool, head clerk).
