Evelyn M. Nordstrom, 96, passed away at Ivy Court in Coeur d'Alene on Oct. 11, 2011.
Evelyn was born in Coeur d'Alene on April 8, 1915, to Charles A. and Cecelia (Barker) Briggs. She was raised in Rose Lake and moved with her family to Sandpoint her sophomore year of high school. She graduated from Sandpoint High School and returned to Rose Lake where she lived until she married Carl A. Nordstrom on Dec. 1, 1935, in Coeur d'Alene. They lived in the canyon area until his death, then she moved to Coeur d'Alene in the late '70s.
She was a member of Canyon Lady's Club in the 4th of July Canyon. Evelyn enjoyed reading, knitting, gardening, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her two children: Donna Nordstrom of Hayden, and Dick and wife Sally Nordstrom on the Coeur d'Alene River near Kingston; grandchildren Paul and wife Rayna and Jay and wife Kim Nordstrom, Cindy, Brian and Anne Wright, Sharon and husband Kirk Nelson; nine great-grandchildren; sister Billie and Art Erickson of Coeur d'Alene; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, on March 26, 1971.

A celebration of Evelyn's life will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery in Coeur d'Alene.
