At the school board meeting Monday, the

Troy school district discussed preparations for administrators to

attend the Montana Conference of Educational Leadership (MCEL) Oct.

19-21 in Great Falls.

The MCEL affords administrators with

updates and educational tools. The conference is comparable to

conferences teachers attend for the Montana Education Association

(MEA) and Montana Federation of Teachers (MFT).

Parents and students will have the

opportunity to use the Infinite Campus Program for lunch account

balances after Oct. 22.

The new system will allow students to

enter their personal identification numbers (PINs) into the system,

thus decreasing the amount of time lunch aids spend entering PINs

and accessing student accounts.

During the school board meeting Sept.

12, the board reviewed a recent walk-through to access possible

upgrades for the technology labs in the schools.

An estimate of $1900 from Frontier

Communications, to move the fiber optic cables located on the front

of the building to the side, was given the school for the job.

The board determined the project was

gratuitous, and decided to camouflage the unit with paint for

now.

The school district has organized a

garage sale and silent auction for the disposal of surplus items.

The items must first be declared obsolete prior to the event,

tentatively scheduled for Oct. 28-29.

The elementary school has arranged for

a book fair to coincide with the elementary parent-teacher

conferences Nov. 8-10.

Century 21, after-school activities

program will host a Harvest (Halloween) Party from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct.

31. The event will serve as a sweet alternative to

trick-or-treating, or a place to stop while parents are out with

their kids.

Extra-curricular hires were made this

month. Courtney Fisher will be assisting the junior high girls

basketball team in the second position; Jeff Hawk will oversee the

elementary boys basketball team; and Kara Sevalstad will coach the

junior varsity girls basketball team.

The High School Student Council

informed the board of recent events at the school. The council

reported for events including homecoming, a recent choir concert

and sports nearing the end of the football and volleyball

season.

To remain current with the times, the

board is considering a Facebook page for the school. A Twitter

account was also considered. However, the board voted against it

because it is unnecessary to have both.

The Troy school board will meet at 7

p.m., Monday Nov. 14 for the next meeting.
