Cline wants to keep working for citizens

SOAP LAKE - Incumbent Soap Lake Councilman John Cline said he'd use another term in position 6 to assure the city continues to grow and prosper for the sake of its residents.
"I have worked my life on solving problems of every type," he said. "I feel that I can continue to serve the people of Soap Lake for the next four years."
Cline wants to find a way to make things better for all in the city, and said if re-elected one of his major goals would be to work more closely with Ukrainian and Hispanic members of the community.
In terms of city infrastructure, Cline's priorities are streets, sidewalks and water and sewer systems, all of which he said need to be brought up to 2011 standards.
Encouraging new business is also on Cline's agenda, and he said in order to improve the local economy the city council must be willing to give tax breaks to incoming businesses. They could also look at changing the city code to encourage manufacturing companies as well as companies like Microsoft and Dell to invest in Soap Lake, he said.
The city should not use taxpayer money for the Lava Lamp, Cline said; although they should support the project and encourage use of private funds for its completion.
Cline would like to carry out a long-standing city plan to create a walking path around Soap Lake, complete with benches for people to rest.
Building another boat ramp to encourage more recreation on the lake is also on Cline's list of projects for the new year.
When asked why people should vote for him, he said people need someone to work for them, a job he's more than willing to carry on.
One of the ways Cline said he would improve living conditions for Soap Lake citizens is to increase police patrols.
"(My priority is) for the health and safety of people of Soap Lake first," he said.
