Glacier National Park has announced Kym Hall as deputy superintendent. She joined the Park in July and replaces Stephanie DuBois, who was named superintendent of Mojave National Preserve earlier this year.

Hall was superintendent of three small park sites in southeastern Arizona - Coronado National Memorial, Chiricahua National Monument and Fort Bowie National Historic Site ‚ where she faced challenges in dealing with border issues with Mexico.

Just prior to her arrival in Montana, Hall oversaw management of several intense wildland fires. A local newspaper at the time of the fires incorrectly quoted her as saying she was leaving Arizona to become the superintendent of Glacier Park.

Hall began her National Park Service career at Olympic National Park in Washington. After working at a variety of positions, including dispatcher and paralegal, Hall took a position at the National Park Service headquarters in Washington, D.C. Hall was actively involved in the first winter-use regulations at Yellowstone National Park, as well as personal watercraft and off-road vehicle regulations at national parks across the U.S.

While serving in the Washington office, Hall was promoted to the position of Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks, where she represented the National Park Service on issues including land use, concessions contracts, weapons in national parks and other high-profile topics.

Hall, her husband and three sons, 14, 10 and 2, said they are delighted to be in Northwest Montana.

"The Northwest is home for my family and me, and we've quickly fallen in love with the area," she said. "It truly is an honor and a privilege to help protect a place as spectacular as Glacier National Park, and to join such a superb leadership team."  

As deputy superintendent, Hall will provide management oversight and guidance for the day-to-day operations of the Glacier Park.
