Glacier drops Capital in 3 sets

HELENA - Lexy Boschee had 14 kills and Emily Gilbertson had 16 digs as the Glacier Wolfpack (5-4) secured a home volleyball playoff spot on Thursday with a 25-20, 25-14, 25-20 victory over Helena Capital.
"Capital came out really strong. (The Bruins) were serving aggressively and they were running their middle well," said Glacier coach Christy Harkins.
The Wolfpack, though, did a good job of adjusting, picking up the intensity and playing better defensively in sets two and three.
"I think we had few unforced errors tonight," the coach said.
"I thought Rachel Chery had a good game. She did a really nice job at the net," the coach said.
The Wolfpack will take on Helena High at 1 p.m. today.
This is a big match in terms of good competition for Glacier, but not in terms of conference standings.
Helena's four-set victory over Flathead on Thursday secured the Western AA regular season conference title and the bye to the state tournament.
Kills - Glacier 32 (Lexy Boschee 14); Capital (Julia Anderson 10 kills); Assists - 32 (Hannah Liss 32), Capital (Quinci Robertson 28); Blocks - Glacier 8 (Cassi Hashley 5, Tiffany Marks 5), Capital (Anderson 4); Digs - Glacier 50 (Emily Gilbertson 16), Capital (Whitney Rau 14), Aces - Glacier 4 (Boschee 2), Capital (Sadie Pilgeram 2).
