HELENA - The Flathead Bravettes overcame a slow start to rally past the Helena Capital Bruins 21-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-16 in a Western AA volleyball match on Friday afternoon.

Flathead (8-3, 16-8) turned in a season-high 15 blocks with Timi Severson leading the way with eight.

"Capital came out playing really hard and swinging hard. Defensively, we didn't get into it. But our blocking really stepped up in the last three games," said Flathead coach Leon Wilcox.

The Bravettes cut their errors dramatically on Friday - from 35 on Thursday (23 hitting, 12 serving) to 13 (eight hitting, five serving).

"It was good to see it turnaround today. Offensively, we were solid at every position. It was a good day," Wilcox said.

Hannah Sackett had 16 kills, 14 digs and served four aces to lead Flathead. Kwyn Johnson and Severson had 10 kills apiece and Nouf Rashoodi had 13 digs.

The Bravettes play host Oct. 29 to Missoula Big Sky. That will be senior night for Flathead.

Kills - Flathead 52( Hannah Sackett 16, Kwyn Johnson 10, Timi Severson 10), Capital 50 (Julia Anderson 18); Blocks - Flathead 15 (Severson 8, Emma Andrews 6), Capital 4 (Sadie Pilgeram 3); Assists - Flathead 45 (Alison Lunde 24), Capital 44 (Quinci Robertson 40); Digs - Flathead 67 (Sackett 14, Nouf Rashoodi 13) Capital 66 (Maryann Beach 11, Savannah Smith 11, Whitney Rau 11); Aces - Flathead 6 (Sackett 4), Capital 6 (Robertson 3).
