THE WITCH

The moon was full, the wind blew cold,

Orange Jack-O-Lanterns, faces gold.

Smiling, waiting, patiently,

Sat on my window for all to see.

There came a tap upon my door.

Slowly I crept across the floor.

So late at night, who could it be?

Was it the witch, Garryanthropy?

One foot, it's said, into your room,

Would forever seal your doom.

Yet I was curious, you see.

Was it a witch come visit me?

A tapping once again I heard.

I tried, but couldn't say a word.

What I did I should not have done.

I opened the door, just for fun

I only cracked it just so far,

But you know how those witches are.

She scurried in and to a chair,

And curled upon a pillow there.

I knew my fate was sealed for sure

As I stroked her head and heard her purr.

Some speak of reality in the extreme. However, life could be about principles or philosophy for some. But, I have found for most, life is living out our days to the best of our ability. I have learned that simplicity can bring genuine joy. For instance, viewing snow falling for the first time; watching our children as they see their first rainbow in the clouds; a playful puppy playing with a butterfly.

Sure, life has its faults. But don't let the bad times spoil your good moments. Even death can be viewed in a positive way. It's all in our perspective. It is up to us to seek and find our own reality. Life has countless wonders just waiting to be found. Be careful that you don't get caught up in the search and forget to enjoy the moment.

Life is not complicated. It is compounded on every choice we make. We get to where we are, decision by decision. However, if you are not responsible for your choices, this does not apply. Nobody is perfect. All of us make bad choices from time to time. That is how we evolve as human beings. We are all incomplete in various stages. Help the ones who have fallen. Look to the more accomplished to find your way. All we can ask of this life, is to live and die fulfilled and satisfied. May all your choices be honest and successful .

INDELIBLE

As clouds of flaming gold become a leaden shroud for the dusky mountain,

So the warm pain of farewell hangs a gray mantel on my heart.

Oh, let me remember not how, when your hand touched mine, my heart took wing.

Let me no longer dream dreams or hope or whisper,

Even though my heart is waiting to hear your name.

Remember not ecstasy? Indelible, it marks the soul.

And now, though, into oblivion goes part of my heart.

There is no bitterness; I asked to know.

But I must remember; remembering brings an afterglow.
