YAKIMA - The Moses Lake High School volleyball team got a much needed win on the road against the Davis Pirates last night, winning in three set (25-7, 25-3, 25-17).

The victory pushes the Chiefs record to 3-9 in league play and assures the team a spot in the upcoming district playoffs.

"We played really well tonight," coach Amy Utter said. "Davis struggled bit. It would've been easy to get sucked down to their pace, but we maintained our focus and finally finished out for the win.'

Utter said it was a nice way to end the regular season.

"The girls are pretty excited right now," she said. "But we don't really have time to celebrate much as we have to get ready for next week."

The seeding in the district tournament was unavailable at press time, but Utter said it really doesn't matter who the Chiefs play.

"No matter who it is, we have to play our game and not let the tempo be dictated to us," she said. "If we come out on the floor ready to play, we have a good chance to make a run and advance."

Sadie Nielson led the way once again for Moses Lake with 11 kills and 10 aces. Briana Valdez added seven kills, Maddi Weakley who was moved up from the junior varsity squad for the last two games, had six kills for the Chiefs. Kenzie Fancher dished out 28 assists and libero Taylor Sonnenberg end up with 10 digs.
