Moses Lake girls soccer beats Eisenhower

YAKIMA - Freshman Alysha Overland recorded a hat trick for Moses Lake Tuesday as the Chiefs handed Eisenhower a 4-1 loss on the Cadets home field.
The win for Moses Lake (7-3-1) lands the team in second place in CBBN standings.
"It was a big win for us," coach Ricardo Char said. "It was nice to see the girls get back on track having lost two of our last three matches."
Overland put the first point of the match on the board 13 minutes into the contest to give the Chiefs a 1-0 lead. She scored again at the 34-minute mark off an assist by Caylah Lunning to put Moses Lake up 2-0.
"Alysha worked really hard to earn her goals," Char said. "She worked hard the whole game and had a great night to show for it."
The Chiefs increased the score to 3-0 on a goal by Lunning to end the first half of play.
Overland picked up where she left off, recording the Chiefs fourth goal of the match at the 57-minute mark to push the score to 4-1 in favor of Moses Lake.
The Cadets Nickiee Akers scored the lone goal for Eisenhower three minutes later to stave off the shutout.
"The goal they scored on us took a bad bounce in the dirt and Heidi (Palmer, Chiefs keeper) bobbled it," Char said. "Eisenhower cleaned it up and put it in the net."
The win over the Cadets keeps Moses Lake in the hunt for the No. 1 or No. 2 seed heading into the district tournament Oct. 29. If the Chiefs win their remaining two games and Richland (9-1-1) lose its last two, the teams would be co-champions of the CBBN. Moses Lake would receive the No. 1 seed if they finish with more points than the Bombers. If not, they will be the No. 2 seed. Either way the Chiefs would have a first round bye in post season play.
If Moses Lake should happen to fall to the third seed, they will host a first round single elimination game at Lions Field.
"We are hoping to be the first seed," Char said. "But all we have to do is beat Davis Tuesday and we'll finish no lower than the No. 2 seed."
The Chiefs need to concentrate on beating Walla Walla first and get the opportunity to do so Saturday when they host the Blue Devils. The match is set for 1 p.m.
"Walla Walla is a tough team. When we played them down there at mid-season, we didn't score until the 70th minute," Char said. "They have a couple of really quick forwards, but if we can keep tabs on them, I like our chances of pulling out a win."
Moses Lake closes out the regular season at home against Davis Tuesday at 7 p.m.
