ROYAL CITY - Grant County and federal law enforcement personnel confiscated a large amount of marijuana from a growing operation near Royal City.
A tip from a neighboring landowner led investigators to serve a narcotics search warrant Friday afternoon at a home on Crook Drive Southwest, about five miles southeast of Royal City, according to Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones on Wednesday.
More than 12 pounds of packaged marijuana and 182 mature marijuana plants were confiscated, adding up to a total estimated street value of about $225,000, Jones stated. Investigators also reportedly seized $8,500 cash, two vehicles and a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun.
Maria Isabel Magana Godinez, 30, Royal City, was booked into the Grant County Jail for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, alien in possession of a firearm and forgery.
Participating in the bust were officers with the Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team, the Grant County Sheriff's Office and the Royal City Police Department, as well as agents from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The investigation continues.
"We're very happy we could help stop this illegal drug operation, and it was all possible because of a tip from a citizen and the teamwork of several law enforcement agencies," Jones stated. "When citizens suspect any illegal activity, they can always call us or send us an email so we can investigate."
Citizens can report suspected illegal activity by calling 509-754-2011 ext. 468, or by sending a tip to crimetips@co.grant.wa.us.
Tipsters do not have to release their name.
