The Bee Hive offers bee pollen, beauty products, beekeeping supplies

The motto is "Buzz on in!" at The Bee Hive at 9551 N. Highway 95 (next to Two-Wheeler Dealer and across from Super 1) in Hayden.

The inventory includes raw local honey, gourmet honey chocolates, beeswax candles, beauty products, honey pots, bee pollen and natural medicines, honeycomb, gifts and children's items. A special attraction is a working-bee glass hive. Orders are being taken for nukes (new hive starts) for 2012 when beekeeping supplies will be available.

Moving the business from Reedsport, Ore., owner Virginia Wilkerson has store hours of 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Master beekeeper Charles Williams of Blanchard will offer bee-keeping classes in 2012. Phone 772-7776.

Unique items at Decor Amor

An amazing variety of unusual items, many American-made and eco-friendly, are offered at Decor Amor. The 1,400-square-foot store is at 6680 Government Way (across from Silver Lake Mall where the As Seen on TV store had been).

Items include floral wall art from recycled tin, colorful canvas prints, handbags, ceramics, vintage hooks, padlocks and checkerboards, flying pigs, mirrors, clocks, barn stars, wine racks, bird cages and wooden crosses.

"We want to meet our goals and satisfy our customers while helping and protecting our workforce and environment," said owner Lorna Griffin. "And we want our products to help make your house a home."

Originally from Texas, Griffin has several years of business experience and came to North Idaho from Spokane in 1998 to "live in a beautiful town and grow my own roots." Store hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and Saturday by appointment. Phone 635-5861.

Accent Albums in Dalton Gardens

Not every place has rhinestone clothing and caps, but Accent Albums & Gifts does.

The new store at 7791 Aqua Circle (off Government Way) in Dalton Gardens also has purses, jewelry, flip flops (remember when they used to be called thongs), scrapbook products, sports street signs and, of course, photo albums.

Originally from Northern California, owner Sherril Harlow and her sons found Coeur d'Alene in 2000 when looking for a place similar to Lake Tahoe and a friend recommended North Idaho. She sold her products at sporting events and offers fundraisers to nonprofit organizations.

ISOLA moves to Harbor Plaza

Opening in Harbor Plaza (on Northwest Boulevard at Hubbard) Monday and expanding to offer more services and infrared sauna therapy, ISOLA (Italian for island) therapists offer therapeutic massage and body treatments, professional skin care, facials, reflexology, pedicures and natural nails.

The infrared sauna mimics the sun's heat without the harmful UV rays, said owner Rebecca Kilmer. "We create a custom boutique spa experience in a peaceful, professional and private setting."
