OCCUPY: There's room for more
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 13 years, 3 months AGO
On Wednesday D.J. Fraser voiced his opinion in the Coeur d’Alene Press about the Occupy Wall Street movement in Coeur d’Alene. While driving by Mr. Fraser was able to classify us as “mostly college students and some freaks.”
My wife and I were there from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Of the 24 people that were there (we had to ask some people to leave and come back later so we would not exceed the 24 allowed) there were three college-age people and the rest of us ranged in age from 50 to 80. Since I am not one of the college students I must be one of the freaks Mr. Fraser refers to. Having spent several years working in the private sector and 27 years in the fire service I believe my wife (a registered nurse for 40 years) and I have earned the right to peacefully demonstrate our opinions without being called names.
Mr. Fraser, if you had opened your eyes you would have seen that we were not opposed to or supporting any political party. You would see that all we are trying to do is call attention to the fact that if a halt isn’t enforced on the raw unregulated greed that has taken over our government and banks, our entire nation is at risk.
Mr. Fraser, I hope that if you are now employed your job and benefits don’t end up overseas; if you are retired that your life savings aren’t wiped out by a medical crisis or some corrupt Wall Street money manager.
I truly believe that if you cared about this country, the people in it and returning the country to its once respected glory, you would stop calling those that do care about this country, names and join us.
